I've never been so excited about owning a piece of technology IN MY LIFE (sidenote: I tried to hit the Caps Lock button just now, but Cr-48 definitely doesn't have one of those).
My poor cat ran and hid when I screamed and jumped and hyperventilated while opening the box.
I was in awe as I plugged it in and hit the power button delicately (because that's how the paperwork told me to hit it). I spazzed out as it started up and gave me instructions on how to use it.
My new Google account picture is quite insane. My hair's all tousled and I'm still in my PJs and I couldn't be bothered to fix either of these things before taking a new account pic.
After doing that much, I shut the lid and walked off to study for a software engineering exam that I had to take in an hour. Sad.
When I got home, I spent another hour or so playing around on the Cr-48 before I had to buckle down and write a 6-10 page paper about ethics for another final exam.
By the way, Google, it kinda sucks for me that you sent me this right in the middle of final exam week. I can't concentrate on anything that isn't the computer in my hands. :)
So the first real task I attempted on the Cr-48 was to write this ethics paper. I am a frequent user of Google Docs but hadn't really used it to do something this important before. I'm more used to formatting my papers in Microsoft Word and it's easier in Word to see what my paper will look like before printing.
I ran into a couple of problems while trying to write this paper in the cloud. First of all, there were several times in this 3 hour period that Google Docs would stop allowing me to type and give me this error: "Trying to reach Google.com". The first time I waited for it to work again, but it never did. I reloaded the page and lost a couple of my latest sentences.
The second, third, tenth time this happened I selected all, copied, pasted into an email draft everything that I had written to prevent the loss of new material. All good. However, why is this happening in the first place? I've never had this problem when using Google Docs with any other computer/browser/OS.
Aside from that, writing a paper in Google Docs wasn't that difficult. Being able to see the print preview would have been more helpful if it didn't take so long to show the preview. I liked being able to write everything and see it all together without page breaks. Not too shabby.
